Foundations: Where Our Story Took Shape
Our story began with silk, a love of fine materials, unique objects, and polished silhouettes. At its heart is a search for the distinctive, and that guiding sentiment continues to shape the brand today.
Our first design, the VAST Silk Knotted Bag, grew out of this vision and set the tone for what AALLSS would become.

Discovering Furoshiki the Japanese Art of Wrapping
Looking at archives and past traditions, one art form stood out: furoshiki, the Japanese practice of wrapping.
This centuries-old practice is used to wrap and protect precious items with simple pieces of cloth. With careful folds and strong knots, people can carry objects safely while also giving them a layer of beauty.
There was something striking about the balance of utility and elegance in this practice. The knots were not just decoration but also structure. The fabric was not wasted but purposeful, and this inspired a reinterpretation through silk, giving form to our first handbag design.
Taffeta Silk
Taffeta silk was chosen for its subtle sheen and durability. Unlike lighter silks, taffeta paired with a medium-weight cotton lining holds its shape while still catching the eye with a soft glow.
It is durable and does not snag easily. It can be washed or dry-cleaned, making it practical. In this way, the bag is designed to stay with you season after season.
